Nickie Flambouras is the Volunteer Manager of Jeans for Genes, a major fundraiser of Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI). Nickie’s role is primarily responsible for recruiting, training and supporting volunteers to carry out fundraising activities on behalf of CMRI. Nickie has only recently taken on the responsibility to manage CMRI’s volunteer program.
Nickie has a Bachelor of Social Science Degree (majoring in disability studies), Diploma in Adult Education and Diploma in Event Management. Her passion for humanity has lead her to work for organisations like ParaQuad, Youthsafe, Deaf Children Australia, The Shepherd Centre and government agencies like the Office of the Public Guardian and NSW Health. Nickie has a growing interest in social media and would like to inject her creativity to attract more young people to Jeans for Genes.
Nickie believes every person injects a different energy and mindset into the workplace. She hopes her creative spirit and initiative is a quality she can always share with others at work.
A national fundraising campaign like Jeans for Genes does not celebrate its Sweet 16th without the support of its donors and sponsors. The staff and management work endlessly to establish networks and nurture each relationship with enthusiasm and passion. Without this, Jeans for Genes would not exist nor would it be referred to as one of the greatest fundraising campaigns this country has ever seen.
In this presentation, we explore the not-for-profit world, the way we work at the Children’s Medical Research Institute and why Jeans for Genes has become such a successful campaign.
